Counterpoint Needle & Syring Program

The Counterpoint Needle & Syringe Program provides free harm reduction materials and information. Counterpoint Harm Reduction Services works with injection drug users to reduce the risk of HIV and other blood borne infections and to improve access to health and social services in the London area.

Counterpoint is located at Regional HIV/AIDS Connection and is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. (Please note: 5 kits (safe injection supplies) are available after-hours from 5-9pm Monday to Friday, and 9:30am-9pm on Saturdays and Sundays.)

The Counterpoint Needle & Syringe Program:

  • Educates injection drug users about the health risks associated with injection drug use.
  • Provides information and materials necessary to practice safer drug use and safer sex.
  • Is a referral source to other social services and health care agencies such as drug and alcohol treatment centers, doctors, hospitals, social workers, housing and welfare support agencies, legal aid, etc.

Harm reduction Case Management

The Harm Reduction Case Manager will support people who identify they would like to change the way they use substances.  

After the client has identified what they are looking to accomplish (reduce substance use, change to a less harmful method of taking substances, working towards abstinence, etc.) the case manager will support the client to identify goals, strategies and supports available.  The case manager will support the person to identify their most pressing needs and assist them with prioritizing.

The Harm Reduction Case Manager will make connections with other agencies to link clients to the support they deserve.

The Harm Reduction Case Manager is available on a drop in basis and can make appointments if the client prefers that option.  

Street and Mobile Outreach

Our IDU Outreach Workers provides a full range of services including distribution of harm reduction materials, information and support through street and mobile outreach.

Mobile Outreach allows the agency to provide services across the city of London. Our Outreach Worker travels in an unmarked van. The IDU Outreach Worker providing mobile services can be reached on their cell phone at 519-851-3548 to arrange for service anytime  between 9am-5pm. Call early and leave a message if there is no answer. Be sure to leave a call back number that will be answered.
