PEP in Your Pocket

PEP in Your

PIP stands for PEP in Your Pocket. PEP is usually prescribed in emergency situations after a potential HIV exposure. With PIP, you are prescribed PEP in advance. This means you have the prescription for PEP before a possible exposure happens, but you do not begin taking PEP until after a possible exposure.

Who is PIP for?

PIP is ideal for those who may be at higher risk for a potential exposure to HIV—such as people who use injection drugs or have partners whose HIV status is unknown. It gives you the ability to act fast if needed.

Important: If you believe you've already been exposed to HIV and need PEP urgently, go to the nearest emergency room. The HIV Prevention Clinic provides PIP, but not emergency PEP.
