Hepatitis C Support Services
The Hepatitis C Care team is a partnership between the London InterCommunity Health Centre and Regional HIV/AIDS Connection. We provide comprehensive services to support marginalized community members living with or at-risk for hepatitis C. Our supports are meant to improve access to hepatitis C care and prevention for populations that face barriers accessing mainstream health services, including:
- People who use drugs
- People who are homeless or underhoused
- Youth who are street-involved
- Indigenous people and communities
- People involved in the provincial correctional system
We provide assistance with:
- Clinical services: Testing, linkage to care, and treatment
- Community work: Educational outreach, harm reduction services, and advocacy
- Psychosocial supports, including counselling
- Referrals to housing, employment, and other social services
- Service coordination and care planning
Treatment + Supports
The Hepatitis C Care Team offers hep C testing through London InterCommunity Health Centre. Diagnosing hepatitis C requires two tests. The first test is a simple blood test done to check for exposure to the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). If the result of this first antibody test is positive, it means you have been exposed to the virus. A second blood test, called an RNA test, will determine if the virus is still present in your blood.

For individuals diagnosed with hepatitis C, we can make an appointment with a prescriber (physician, nurse, infectious disease specialist) and meet with a social worker to get you connected to the supports you need. The care team will help to coordinate treatment, medication, and assistance with managing symptoms related to hepatitis C infection.

Social + Peer Supports
“Love Your Liver” is a weekly drop-in group for people to connect with the Hepatitis C Care Team, as well as peer team members with lived experience. This group is open to everyone who wants to learn more about testing, treating, and preventing hepatitis C. No referrals needed.
