Counterpoint Needle and Syringe Program is a welcoming and confidential space to access new and safer drug use equipment, including: 

• Needles and syringes
• Sharps containers
• Alcohol swabs, sterile water, and cotton filters
• Cookers
• Vitamin C
• Condoms
• Bowl and straight pipes (including mouth pieces and screens)
• Kits for safer piercing, snorting, inhalation, or injection
• Educational resources

Counterpoint also offers naloxone training, safer needle disposal, and referrals to other social services.

CASE MANAGEMENT

Harm Reduction Case Managers can help you reach your goals and work with you to change the way you use substances (such as reducing use, practicing safer use, or working towards stopping use). Drug Checking

Drug checking is a free and confidential service that tests pre-obtained drugs for unknown or dangerous contents. Drug checking can help people who use substances learn more about what they might be taking and make informed decisions.

Drug checking can be done two different ways:

Scatr drug checking technology: A drug testing machine that can scan a sample without destroying it in under 15 minutes. Offered on-site only.

Dip testing: The use of test strips that can take approximately 5 minutes to detect fentanyl, xylazine, benzodiazepines, nitazenes, and medetomidine. Unlike Scatr, dip tests destroy the tested sample. Offered on-site only.

Eligibility:

• Drug testing is available to individuals who access Counterpoint services
• Samples must be pre-obtained and belong to the individual using the service
• Testing sample needs to be in dry, powdered form or crushable (i.e. pills or crystals)

Drug checking is one of several harm reduction strategies. People who use substances should continue to exercise caution and follow additional harm reduction practices. The results of drug checking technology should not be considered medical advice.
